Alberta Ballet - Dance Theatre of Harlem
February 13-15 - Calgary | Jubilee Auditorium 1415 14 Ave NW
February 21-22 - Edmonton | Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium 11455 87 Ave NW
Alberta Ballet is thrilled to host the Dance Theatre of Harlem, a multi-ethnic ensemble that paves the way for an inclusive future in embracing the belief of its founder: “Ballet belongs to everyone.”
Take Me With You highlights the emotional depth and intensity of contemporary ballet in a pas de deux against the restless beat of Radiohead. The enduring masterpiece from George Balanchine’s Pas de Dix will exalt the beauty, precision and grace of Balanchine’s choreography. The programme culminates with Return, an ingenious fusion of classical ballet and the raw energy of street dance. Set to the iconic tunes of James Brown and Aretha Franklin, this work celebrates a “witty fusion of ballet techniques and street gait” (New York Times).
Dance Theatre of Harlem’s audacious vision for ballet is sheer brilliance! It’s a programme that’s not to be missed!
