Modern Steak- Jasper Fundraiser

Modern Steak Rooftop is hosting a fundraiser on August 10, 2024, from noon to 3:00 p.m. in support of individuals affected by the devastating fires in Jasper with 100% of ticket sales going directly towards helping tourism and hospitality workers.
Tickets are $85 plus tax and gratuity and include 10 different passed canapes, a Benchmark Angus carving station, six wines, four beers, two cocktails and music by DJ Kav.

Contemporary Calgary - Ghost of Canoe Lake: New Work by Marcel Dzama

Marcel Dzama is one of Canada’s most intriguing contemporary artists. This exhibition marks Dzama’s return to the Canadian institutional scene after over a decade. The artist revisits themes of landscape drawn from Canadian art history and his own memories of a childhood spent in the wilds of Manitoba and northern Saskatchewan—all while confronting a natural world threatened by climate change. This exhibition was co-organized by Contemporary Calgary and the McMichael Canadian Art Collection. Check out the exhibit at Contemporary Calgary, now through October 27.

Youth Singers of Calgary - Raise the Roof

Youth Singers of Calgary are seeking the public’s support to raise $80,000 to help replace their roof. Their home, the ATCO Performing Arts Center, is in urgent need after heavy snow melting and a rainy spring resulted in flooding and leaking. The important piece of arts infrastructure is home to many community organizations.
The Government of Alberta is matching funds raised up to $5,000 through the crowdfunding initiative. Make donations here!
Whyte Museum - J.E.H. MacDonald: The O'Hara Era

This summer, the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies is offering a rare opportunity to view over 100 works by Group of Seven artist J.E.H. MacDonald from public and private collections. Commemorating the 100th anniversary of his first trip to Lake O'Hara, the exhibition is a unique experience available only at they Whyte Museum.
The show is strengthened by original research conducted by geologists Patricia Cucman and the late Stanley Munn, who meticulously identified the exact locations of MacDonald's works, along with photographs, over the past 18 years. Intriguing discoveries such as paint scrapings and teacup shards have been found in these locations, providing further insight into MacDonald's creative process and daily life during his time at Lake O'Hara.
