OMEGA Watches - Grand Opening Event Recap

Asian Heritage Month

The Asian Heritage Foundation invites all Calgarians to celebrate Asian Heritage Month this May across various locations throughout Calgary, recognizing and honouring the rich contributions and lasting impact of the Pan-Asian community in Canada.

Throughout the month, residents and visitors alike can take part in a diverse lineup of events designed to inspire learning, connection and cultural appreciation. Highlights in Calgary include five free, family-friendly experiences:

  • A special showcase at the National Music Centre featuring Chinese artists and a unique fusion music experience.

  • Three engaging educational programs hosted by the Calgary Public Library.

  • The vibrant and colourful Vaisakhi Mela celebration.

  • The Korean Traditional Drumming and Art Day.

  • An interactive International Game Day.

Calgary Black Film Festival

May 22-26 | In - person and Online

The Calgary Black Film Festival (CBFF) returns for its sixth edition from May 22-26, 2026, with an exciting lineup celebrating Black filmmakers from Canada and around the world. Created by the Fabienne Colas Foundation and co-presented by Global Calgary, this year’s hybrid festival will showcase 42 films, with in-person screenings at the Globe Cinema, panels and workshops at the Calgary Memorial Park Library and online access available across Canada.

The festival kicks off with the Calgary debut of the award-winning film Pasa Faho, alongside an exclusive after-party. Audiences are invited to join the Opening Night celebration on May 22 at 6 p.m. at the Globe Cinema. Tickets are now available on the CBFF website.

The festival brings talent and reflect on the experiences and challenges of Black creators.
