Contemporary Calgary - Hummingbird Guided Meditation

Join us for the opening of Hummingbird Guided Meditation by Miruna Drăgan & Maggie Tiesenhausen on Thursday, March 6, from 5–9 p.m.

This cinematic installation offers a meditative journey through the eyes of a hummingbird, following its migratory path across seven scenes. Shot on Super8 in an overgrown Mexican garden, the slowed footage deepens our perception of time and space, fostering an interspecies connection.

The accompanying soundtrack, composed from years of field recordings along the hummingbird’s route, blends haunting, looped soundscapes with fragmented echoes of human presence. Expanding on previous exhibitions, this version features a multi-channel projection with spatialized sound and narration by Paulina Macías.

Francesco Ventriglia's enchanting The Wizard of Oz invites the audience on a spectacular voyage through a world of imagination, heart, and courage! Francesco’s innovative rendition offers a fresh twist and unique framing on L. Frank Baum’s treasured story. A Canadian premiere, The Wizard of Oz is vividly brought to life through a fusion of classical and contemporary ballet.

Dorothy and her ragtag crew—the playful Scarecrow, the tender-hearted Tin Man and the brave Lion—forge a close bond as they journey through the magical land of Oz. The stunning visuals evolve from minimalist to magnificently elaborate as Dorothy discovers of the profound strength found in friendships built on empathy, bravery and loyalty.

This enchanting experience is a Canadian premiere and just as audiences in Italy, New Zealand and Uruguay discovered, Alberta Ballet fans will leave with cherished memories and a renewed love for this timeless tale. Alberta Ballet is thrilled to add it to its repertoire of family ballets.

Youth Singers of Calgary - YSC A Concert Celebration

The Youth Singers of Calgary (YSC) invite audiences to a celebration of choral music, showcasing a selection of traditional and contemporary pieces. Led by YSC’s Principal Director, Kathryn Parrotta, the performance highlights the exceptional talent of singers ranging from Grade 4 to Young Adults. The evening will also feature a special guest appearance by the Joanne Cardinal Schubert Concert Choir, conducted by Heidi Wood.

Youth Singers of Calgary - HEARTS OUT

HEARTS OUT is a fun-filled gala with a very special cause. It is a semi-formal extravaganza showcasing some of Youth Singers of Calgary’s (YSC) extraordinary talent and raising vital funds for YSC. The evening’s festivities include fabulous live entertainment, a silent auction, a gourmet meal and a dance floor. Funds raised through HEARTS OUT will go towards supporting youth, the Youth Singers of Calgary, the ATCO Performing Arts Centre, and YSC’s mission to create a permanent community hub for youth and the arts through the Crescendo Capital Campaign.

Barlcay Street Real Estate - Calgary’s Commercial Real Estate Investment Stays Strong for Three Consecutive Years

Barclay Street Real Estate reports that Calgary's commercial real estate market maintained strong investment levels in 2024, with a total dollar volume of $3.36 billion across 590 transactions. This performance marks the third-highest investment year since 2013. Notably, retail properties saw a 26% increase in investment, totalling over $768 million and multi-residential assets reached a record $694 million. 

"Calgary – and Alberta as a whole – continued to inspire investor confidence. Three years of record-breaking investment prove it," David Wallach CCIM, Owner/Broker Barclay Street Real Estate.
