Calgary Refugee Health Clinic - Support
The Calgary Refugee Health Society is experiencing critical funding challenges and is urgently seeking support to continue running the Calgary Refugee Clinic. The clinic, which serves thousands of Calgary’s most vulnerable newcomers, is at imminent risk of closure. For over twenty years the Calgary Refugee Clinic has been a cornerstone in providing comprehensive healthcare to refugees upon arrival to Canada. The clinic has over 2500 active patients with a constant stream of new arrivals. Last year alone the clinic provided 25,972 medical and allied health appointments. The clinic’s closure would not only leave vulnerable newcomers without essential healthcare but also increase the strain on our healthcare system, in particular our emergency departments and acute care services.

Mia + Eric’s In a Strange Place (2024) is a 9-channel video installation exploring the work and lives of forest caretakers in British Columbia and Alberta. Filmed with over 150 ecologists, activists, and conservationists, the installation captures their intimate, slow-motion gestures, embodying the quiet, dedicated labour involved in stewarding these ecosystems.
