Ellen Parker founded PARKER PR Inc. in 2015 as a full-service PR and communications firm in Calgary, Alberta and leads the team. CALGARY REFUGEE HEALTH SOCIETY
For 20 years, the Calgary Refugee Health Clinic has been dedicated to caring for Calgary's newcomers, offering comprehensive healthcare for children and families. As of April 1, 2025, the clinic will no longer receive support from its sponsors, impacting its ability to provide healthcare to future refugees in Calgary. In November 2024, PARKER PR hosted an inspiring event featuring a panel discussion, bringing together experts in the field to talk about the importance of supporting refugees in the city. In response, four dedicated doctors have come together to form the Calgary Refugee Health Society, working to prevent hospitals from getting overcrowded and ensure that healthcare remains accessible for all.
Open Heart by Jane Seymour
The “Open Heart” public art installation, designed by actress and artist Jane Seymour, is a new addition to Trico Homes’ Kingsland Park. This heart-shaped artwork embodies the culture, strength and vibrancy within the community. “Open Heart” also represents Trico Homes’ dedication to not just building homes but creating spaces that provide kindness and connection. PARKER PR worked with the team to successfully scure media coverage, including CTV, QR770, Calgary Herald and Livewire. Be sure to check out the sculpture!
Hive in sunnyside, by JEMM PROPERTIES
Hive in Sunnyside is a purpose-built rental apartment building by JEMM Properties with 141 suites including studio, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom designs. The building features artwork commissioned by Calgary-based artists Alex Kwong, Cassie Suche and Cory Nespor. Additional features include an energy-efficient design, a pollinator garden and a rooftop beehive. The building will be complete and ready for occupancy in the summer of 2024. Situated in Calgary’s best urban community, Sunnyside, Hive, allows residents to explore independent coffee shops, boutiques and other charming activities that this neighbourhood offers. These amenities are just within walking distance for Hive’s new residents. PARKER PR successfully secured coverage for JEMM Properties, to highlight the sunflower mural that adds beauty to the Calgary skyline.
